UL94 V-0 — what it means for you

UL94 V-0 is the highest flame retardancy rating for plastics. A V-0 rated part self-extinguishes within 10 seconds after flame removal with no dripping of burning particles. This filament achieves V-0 at just 1.2mm wall thickness — making it compliant for electronics enclosures, home appliances, and automotive interior components where fire safety standards are mandatory. The FR system is halogen-free (Cl/Br free) — no toxic gas release in case of combustion.

Dry at 65°C for 4–6 hours before printing. PC-ABS absorbs moisture readily — wet filament causes popping, rough surfaces, and weaker layer bonding.

Frequently Asked Questions
V-0 means the material self-extinguishes within 10 seconds after a flame source is removed, with no dripping of burning particles. This is achieved at just 1.2mm wall thickness. For electronics housings, home appliances, and automotive components, V-0 is often a regulatory or customer-specified requirement. This filament meets that requirement without halogenated (Cl/Br) flame retardants.
Vicat softening temperature is 101°C and HDT at 0.45 MPa is 92°C — meaningfully higher than standard ABS (typically Vicat ~95°C). For lightly loaded parts, the material handles environments up to approximately 90°C. For structural parts under load, design for the HDT at 1.8 MPa (84°C).
No hardened nozzle needed — PC-ABS contains no fibres. A standard brass nozzle works fine. You do need an all-metal hotend (no PTFE in the heat zone) to sustain 260–285°C printing temperatures. An enclosed chamber is strongly recommended for parts larger than 50 x 50 mm.
PC-ABS warps in a similar way to standard ABS — do not expect a significant improvement. A brim is recommended for all parts, not just large ones. Use a 95–110°C heated bed, an enclosed chamber at 50–70°C, and a light adhesive (glue stick) on PEI for reliable first-layer adhesion.
Yes to all three. PC-ABS sands smoothly — wet-sand progressively for a primer-ready surface. Standard spray primers and paints adhere well. Electroplating workflows (chrome-look finish) are also compatible. Use ABS-compatible cement or mechanical fasteners for bonding parts together.
Yes — stable diameter (±0.05 mm) and precision winding make it compatible with Bambu AMS and similar multi-spool systems. For best results, print in an enclosed machine (Bambu X1 or P1 with door closed) and ensure the system can sustain 260–285°C at the hotend.
