3DTrcek Nylon (PA-12) Filament

Popular among thousands of creators for its reliable quality. Made in Slovenia, with over 10 years of experience in 3D filament manufacturing and 45 years in plastic processing. The Nylon (PA-12) filament is characterized by exceptional toughness, wear resistance as well as chemical and UV resistance.

Characteristics of Nylon (PA-12) filament:

Nylon boasts high thermal, chemical, and UV resistance. While it does not handle tensile loads as well as ABS, it excels in impact strength, toughness, flexibility, and wear resistance. Nylons are very sensitive to moisture content before processing and damp nylon is very difficult to use. Nylon (PA-12) absorbs up to 4 times less water than PA-6 due to its chemical structure, making it easier to store and print.

Printing:

Nylon warps significantly during printing, requiring a high bed temperature and glue. It is also sensitive to airflow, making an enclosed chamber mandatory and preferably heated. As the filament melts at very high temperatures and prints above 260℃, a full metal hot end is required.

Quality Guarantee:

Precise mechanical winding and thorough inspection ensure that the filaments do not tangle. Each spool is vacuum-packed with a desiccant within 5 minutes of production, ensuring long-lasting quality. The filament contains no recycled material, ensuring a stable diameter of 1.75mm +/- 0.03 mm and minimal ovality.

Compatibility:

Nylon PA-12 prints at high temperatures, thus a full metal hot end is required. Due to significant warping during printing, an enclosed chamber is mandatory, and a heated chamber is also recommended. With over 10 years of experience in developing 3D filaments, 3DTrček produces only the best filaments, ensuring excellent results on all popular FDM printers such as Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa, Anycubic, Elegoo, etc.

Chemical, Mechanical, and Thermal Properties:

Nylon boasts high impact strength, toughness, and wear resistance, making it suitable for technical models and prototypes. Due to its chemical structure, it shows good resistance to various chemical compounds, including automotive fluids, making it a popular choice in the automotive industry. Being UV resistant, it is also suitable for outdoor elements. It reliably withstands temperatures around 130℃.

Post-processing:

Nylon can be post-processed with tools meant for machining metals. Once processed its flexibility can be increased by soaking it in water, though this process is difficult to control.

Storage:

Store 3DTrcek Nylon PA-12 filament in a dry, dark place in an airtight bag with a desiccant at temperatures between 0℃ and 40℃. Nylon quickly absorbs moisture and is very sensitive to moisture content during printing. We recommend drying the filament before each use in a filament dryer or oven for at least 8 to 12 hours at 60-80℃ and, if possible, printing directly from the dryer.

Packaging:

Available in 50g, 250g, 700g, 2,1kg, 5kg, and 10kg spools. Contact us at [email protected] for orders of the larger spools in specific colors.

Printing Recommendations:

Nylon is a challenging material to print, as it prints at high temperatures and warps significantly during cooling. Therefore use of a full metal hot end and an enclosed printing chamber is required. The use of a heated chamber and a glue solution is also recommended. Warping can be mitigated by avoiding sharp corners, we recommend designing models with rounded edges and using the brim function as these help better distribute the forces during shrinking.

FAQ:

Are 3DTrcek filaments compatible with the Bambu Lab AMS system?

Yes, the filaments are compatible with all popular FDM printers and the Bambu Lab AMS system.

How can I reduce warping when printing with Nylon filament?

Warping is hard to avoid completely. We recommend heating the printer chamber and using a glue developed for Nylon printing. Proper model design, such as rounding the edges and using the brim function, also helps distribute the forces that cause warping.

Do you take back failed prints and recycle them?

We currently do not have the technology for recycling, but we are working to make this possible in the near future.
